Sitewire Marketspace Solutions

When people search for a product or service on the Web, they normally visit several websites before they come to a decision which company to buy from. Therefore, it’s important that your website remains on the user’s memory at first sight. Apart from the look, your web design has to be equally striking. Your web design should provide good content and load quickly. However, you should ensure that your web design looks different from your competition. Otherwise, people may not want to choose you and instead secure their services.

It is sometime tempting to look at your competitors’ websites and assume that yours should have the same web design and content. It can certainly be useful to look at your competitors’ websites. But if your website has a similar web design, then there is no reason for people to pick you instead. In fact, there’s a real danger you look like a cheap copy of them. Your business should have a unique selling point (USP), which separates you from your competition. For instance, your items might be cheaper, your delivery might be quicker or you may even have a better product range than anyone else.

So, make sure that this USP can fit well into your web design and across your website. Your visitor wants to know why they should choose you over anyone else. It’s your job to make sure that your web design answers this question clearly. Making a good web design is a skill that requires both creative flair and technical knowledge. It is as well time consuming. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to add web pages to your website without worrying about the web design? Well, there is a solution to this. An easy way to edit pages is through the content management system (CMS). CMS is used in web design to allow the website owner to add content to his website without the need to know HTML.

Moreover, through good web design solutions, the website owner can log on to a password protected web page to make the changes he wants. As such, the web design industry can provide some cheap CMS packages such as Adobe Contribute which runs as an application on a computer. Simple CMS packages might only let you edit words and headings on existing web pages. More complex CMS packages are readily used in web design to add pages or even upload images. In web design, setting up a CMS is more complicated than creating a web page. Unless you are an experienced web design professional, you may need to hire one to effectively set up a CMS for you.

A huge advantage of having a CMS is that anyone within your company can update your website. You could even assign various people different sections to update on your website. This said, it is clear that web design is improving at fast pace and will keep on improving during years to come. In other words, good web design technologies can make your website run faster and at the same time prove to be more profitable to you.

Anyone know of a responsible, competitive web design company in Kelowna BC? ?
I'm looking for a competitive web design company in Kelowna BC… I'm not too computer savvy. Any suggestions? Price is of course a factor, but not the determining one. Which company offers the best design solutions?

I shopped around a the Kelowna area a few months ago and ended up going with a company called bgio media (http://www.bgiomedia.com).. I got more than expected. Very, Very nice work at reasonable rates. Definitely worth checking out. There are a few other companies in the kelowna worth checkout and it's probably worth your time to run your project by each one.

I'm in the market looking for someone to desing websites for me and you'd be surprised at how hard it is for me to find one! Sure, there are lots of them around, but how do I choose one?

I browse through yellow pages and directories. I look at their ad design as a first qualifier to see if they have an attractive ad, clear message and in general, if they're "up and up". I also check out their websites of course, because that is the most basic indicator of the class of work. I have to admit though, it's hard to find someone this way.

I also ask for referrals. I look at my vendors websites, my customers websites, and anyone else that I come across that has an attractive website. If I like their website, I ask who designs it for them. That helps.

Lastly, I ask my advertising agency/ graphic designer and anyone in the creative design business for referals. I find this to be the most effective way.

However, here's what I recommend from someone on the other side.
    Follow up on referrals.
I find people don't call. For example, I like someone's website. I ask them who designed it. they're happy to tell me and said they'd call the desginer and have them give me a call. the designer wait weeks to call me. tells me they don't care much for new business. if someone gives you a lead, BE SURE TO FOLLOW UP ON IT IMMEDIATELY. if you don't, it reflects poorly on you and the referrer. they won't give out your name next time.

Make your website professional and your best work.
it's the first judge of your work. duh. if they don't like your site, they're not going to hire you to design their site. it should reflect what you offer, your class, your range, your style. make it tasteful.

    Convey professionalism.
I'm always afraid to try anyone who I think is a fly by night operation. I want someone who's been around for a while, knows what they're doing, and will be around to continue to provide services for years to come. I hate shopping for new designers. Convey that implicitly. you've been around, you're going to be around. you're not some guy in a basement that can just do cool graphics.

    Provide all around service.
be their website solution provider. help with hosting, domain registration, marketing, ecommerce, shopping cart, whatever it is that they need. be the e-solution for your clients. it's a much appreciated service.

    Develop a niche market
I'm in the food business. I know people in the food business. I want a designer that understands food business. over time, we all end up using the same people. the advertising agency that I work with, 80% of their clients are food people. Over time, it becomes their expertise and makes it that much easier for them to get more food clients. People want you to understand their business, especially since an effective website HAS to tie into their core business needs and functions.

Save your money on banners, searches, sponsorships, and other things that cost money. Develop relationships. Cultivate referals. Be professional. Provide excellent service. If you just do this, you'll already be well above the crowd. and it doesn't cost you anything other than time and attention.
