How should I design a web form that easily updates a text file on my webserver?I have a simple text file on my webserver that I would like to update periodically without ftp'ing into the server and uploading/overwriting the existing text file.
I would like to design a simple form that, when filled out online and submitted, would write the contents of the form to the .txt file on my server, overwriting the existing copy. There are some simple formatting rules that I would like to keep standard within the .txt file (for example, it should always begin with "content=", and this should not be changeable via the web form).
Does anyone know what the best way of doing this would be? I would like to keep the solution both simple and robust. It's a linux server running Apache, and on the server I can use PHP4, PHP5, cgi, PERL 5.6, Ruby, Python, and of course html.
If the code isn't self-explanatory, a simple explanation of what it's doing would be much appreciated, but not required.
